Located in the heart of The Opera District in Downtown Dubai, the Dubai Opera House stands proudly as the cultural “Jewel in the Crown” of the city. Developed by Emaar Properties as a multi-purpose performance and event venue, the building reflects the heritage of the region through its unique design, inspired by the smooth curves of an Arabian dhow.
Working closely with Theatre Projects Consultants and the design team, LSI Projects was assigned to deliver both the Sound & Communications and Production Lighting packages.
The technical demands of the venue were complex, as it needed to transform seamlessly to accommodate diverse performances, including ballet, opera, theatre as well as both amplified and unamplified shows.

LSI Projects navigated the technical and logistical challenges presented by such a large-scale project. Additional support from the UK was required, particularly for system engineering and specialised input in lighting, audio DSP programming, IP network deployment and speaker modelling.
Requiring sustainable solutions for a 21st-century performance space, the project presented numerous technical challenges. Tasked with delivering adaptable systems capable of accommodating future technological advancements, LSI Projects installed a comprehensive network infrastructure comprising multi-modal fibre and copper.
With many systems relying on IP technology, this infrastructure ensures seamless connectivity, high-speed data transfer and robust support for advanced audiovisual and control systems – providing a foundation that can evolve with emerging technologies.
Meticulous planning was essential to integrate the audio, video and lighting systems while also coordinating with IT management to ensure seamless coexistence between building and specialist systems.
